December is sold to us as a time of celebration, socialising and extroverted FUN.

The expectation is that we should all be out quaffing bubbles in a sequin dress, ‘mingling’ with people who, let’s face it, we probably don’t usually choose to hang out with at any other time of the year.

But the reality is that this time of year can leave us feeling depleted, both emotionally and physically.

We can find ourselves fire-fighting and doing what needs to be done.

There are additional events at schools, if we have children in our lives. Remember the Christmas jumper on this day. Don’t forget to bring a gift for a donation on this day. The Christmas play is on this day. Toy day is on this day. Non-uniform day is on this day…

On and on it goes.

And if you happen to have a child who struggles with change, all of this can be magnified. If YOU struggle with change yourself, it can be magnified again.

In the workplace, things can get busier too, with additional social events, end-of-year deadlines and more work to get through before the Christmas break.

We may have caring responsibilities for others. Appointments to organise. Flu jabs to remember. Things to sort.

And we may be planning lots of things for other people too. Gifts. Meals. Social events. Perhaps even social events that we don’t really want to go to. Ones that we already know are likely to leave us tired.

And so we overstretch.

We shape ourselves.

We shrink and merge and fade.

We exhaust ourselves in the process.

Then we see the adverts, everywhere, telling us that everyone else is having a simply wonderful time, with their simply wonderful family and their simply wonderful friend group.

And we can end up feeling… less than.

But what if we didn’t?

What if, in winter, instead of pushing our energy outwards because society tells us we should, we listened to our bodies?
What if we did what nature naturally does?
What our bodies may actually be craving in winter.

Turn inwards.

What if we paid attention to what is happening inside?
What if we did the things that nurture our bodies, minds and souls?
What if we engaged in things that genuinely light us up?
What if we noticed ourselves?

When we truly get to know ourselves and our needs, and when we honour ourselves by meeting those needs and listening to our own wishes, something shifts.

We can show up for other people in a way that is honest, authentic and true.

It is powerful stuff.

No more resentment.
No more ‘shoulds’ and ‘have tos’.

Just meeting yourself where you are.

I believe that when we do this, our relationships transform.

Our relationship with ourselves.

And our relationships with other people.

So, why not make this the year where winter gets to be exactly what you need?

Throughout December, you’ll receive a quick-to-read email each day, with one simple action (that is easy, optional and takes less than 5 minutes) to help you return to yourself, reconnect with your needs and hear your own voice.

Then, on December 13th, we’ll meet in person for a glorious winter retreat day.

A day of gentle, accessible mindful movement, optional creative craft, nourishing food, dreamy relaxation and simple practices that you can take into your everyday life to support you long after the day itself.

Space to breathe. Space to listen. Space to notice what you need.

Space to simply be you, with no demands.

Are you coming?

Book the retreat day and get the daily emails for free or if you can't make the in person retreat day, receive just the daily emails.
